There’s a new problem in the SMP industry.

SMP in the Age of AI

What’s real and what’s AI generated!

It’s what I call being “Tat-Fished.”

A play on “catfished” – where what you’re shown isn’t what you actually get.

Only this time, it’s not a fake profile…
It’s fake results.

What Changed?

Not long ago, SMP was easy to read.

What you saw online was mostly real:

  • Maybe slightly sharpened
  • Maybe better lighting
  • But still based in reality

Now?

We’ve entered a different era.

AI-generated images.
Over-edited results.
Hairlines that look perfect… but only on a screen.

And the problem is – to the untrained eye – it all looks believable.

The New Illusion

Today, someone can create:

  • A flawless hairline
  • Perfect density
  • Zero skin texture
  • Unrealistically crisp follicles

All without ever picking up a needle.

That image gets posted.
It gets likes.
It builds trust.

But it doesn’t reflect what SMP actually looks like in real life.

Why This Matters

SMP is not just about how it looks on Instagram.

It’s about how it looks:

  • In daylight
  • At 6 inches away
  • In the mirror
  • Over time

Real SMP has:

  • Natural softness
  • Slight irregularities
  • Skin texture
  • Depth that builds over sessions

If everything looks too perfect
There’s a good chance it isn’t real.

The First Session Lie

One of the biggest giveaways?

First session results that look “finished.”

That’s not how SMP works.

A proper process builds:

  1. Light base
  2. Gradual density
  3. Layered realism

If someone is showing full density after one session –
you should be asking questions.

We’re Not Saying We’re Better

This isn’t about calling people out.

And it’s not about saying we’re better than everyone else.

It’s about something much simpler:

Honesty.

At Head INK, what you see is what you get.

  • Real skin
  • Real lighting
  • Real stages of the process
  • Real expectations

Because the last thing you want is to walk into a clinic expecting one thing…
and leave with something completely different.

How Not to Get Tat-Fished

If you’re researching SMP, slow it down.

Look closer.

Ask yourself:

  • Does the skin look real?
  • Can I see pores?
  • Is the hairline too perfect?
  • Are there any healed results – not just fresh?
  • Do all their photos look the same?

And most importantly:

Does it look like something that would still look good in real life?

Final Word

AI isn’t going anywhere.

And used properly, it can be a powerful tool.

But when it starts shaping expectations in a real-world procedure like SMP –
that’s where problems start.

Because SMP isn’t digital.

It’s on your head.
In real life.
Every day.

So don’t just buy into what looks good online.

Make sure it’s real.

Don’t get Tat-Fished.
